Tutoring from the Heart

OBJECTIVE: raise awareness of the literacy levels within Tennessee for families, children and adults; initiate and/or support literacy programs

SUGGESTED PROJECTS

  • Invite qualified members of the literacy community to speak at club meetings

  • Promote and assist with literacy activities organized by other agencies

  • Support public and school libraries

  • Support local PTA groups

  • Identify, recruit, and train volunteer tutors

  • Hold tutoring sessions

  • Identify and recruit children with low literacy levels

  • Work closely with schools and teachers to determine student needs

  • Identify student needs at the preschool level
