CONSERVATION: Beautification

OBJECTIVE: Educate members about the importance of beautifying their communities and stimulate citizen action to address these concerns.

SUGGESTED PROJECTS

  • Conserve, preserve, and restore green spaces.

  • Partner with Keep American Beautiful focusing on litter removal and prevention projects.

  • Participate in adopt-a-highway programs, National Arbor Day projects, landscaping and planting wildflowers in city green ways and along highways.

  • Respect the unique beauty of our state and work diligently to create and preserve that beauty. Enlist the aide of local and government officials in enforcing litter laws.

  • Restore and maintain landscaping for community schools, libraries, veteran’s memorials, historical landmarks, and government buildings.

  • Create and maintain serenity gardens. Hang bird feeders outside nursing homes.

  • Educate members and the community through seminars, building outdoor conservation classrooms, assist students with conservation projects, and provide gardening baskets and tools to Habitat for Humanity home recipients.
