The General
Federation of Women's Clubs of Tennessee is a volunteer service
organization whose members are united by a dedication to personal and
community improvement. Since 1896 the federated women of Tennessee have
worked together to build and support libraries, procure pure food and drug
laws, protect the rights of children, promote safety, encourage healthy
lifestyles, and promote education and the arts. We are diverse and united
in our efforts.
Our parent
organization, the General Federation of Women's Clubs, is headquartered in
Washington, D.C. We are the largest and oldest women's service
organization in the world with clubs in all fifty states, all US
territories, and in twenty countries worldwide. We are nonsectarian,
nonprofit, and nonpartisan.
GFWC
members include teachers, business owners, social workers, elected
officials, medical professionals, corporate executives, students, and
retirees. Although there is considerable diversity in ages, interests, and
experiences, these women are united by a heightened sense of
responsibility to themselves, their communities, nation, and world. For
more information check out the official website at
www.GFWC.org.
The GFWC of
Tennessee has clubs in all areas of the state. Membership is open to
anyone who wants to network, contribute, and develop through volunteer
service. We welcome the opportunity to show you how to become involved.
